Ummm... minus 1 point for creeping me out at the end there but I suppose the joke was still good. :|

We were busy this weekend, so I was just sitting around thinking "Hmmm, I don't remember reading Smash this week", so you've successfully managed to become part of my routine :D

I regretted the fact that Nintendo seemed to be 'wholesome gaming' while the Genesis seemed to pander to my adolescent urges for ripping spines out and cheesy 16 bit women... But it was suuuuch a better system for games... I think I've still got at least Mario Kart for the SNES in a box somewhere :)

Glad to hear we're part of the routine. Thanks for reading!

I never really felt any regret that Nintendo always took a more family friendly approach to games. When it comes down to it, good gameplay is good gameplay no matter how adorable, and a bad game can't be saved by gore and boobs. Although the lack of blood in Mortal Kombat did sort of miss the point.

Mortal Kombat was sort of the focal point between the two... I didn't mind that Nintendo went with Mario themed Kart racing (in fact, I thank the gaming gods for that one!), but Mortal Kombat got neutered for no good reason... At the time, just looking at that one game, I was resentful that the system that I chose had taken the whole concept of the game (Fatalities) and squeeged it until it was clean enough...

I mean, at it's core, it's still a fighting game about harming the other person, but they took the illicit fun out of it that was a big draw for Mortal Kombat..
